Black Rock Solar started as a group of volunteers at Burning Man 2007. We're still giving back, as one of the only nonprofit solar installers in the United States!
Last year, Black Rock Solar hooked up over one million watts of clean, renewable energy at low or no cost for schools, nonprofits, tribes and community organizations (and we have big plans for 2013!). We also organize educational field trips, train tribal members in energy efficiency, and give small grants and technical help to community groups and artists.
Your donation helps us extend our reach, giving extra help to organizations that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to go solar. Every dollar you give touches a life.

This spring, we’ll be installing a 31.5 kilowatt solar array for Friends In Service Helping. It's one of Northern Nevada’s biggest charities, with a 32-year history of providing food, shelter, medical assistance and other help to the homeless and hungry.
FISH is located in Carson City, the capital of Nevada, and serves almost 20,000 people every year through its food pantry, dining room, shelter, medical clinic and other facilities. Partnering with 75 local organizations and employing a staff of 20 aided by over 100 volunteers, FISH is a major hub in Nevada’s nonprofit network.
With the help of a utility company rebate, we've covered over $97,000 of the cost of building a 31.1 kilowatt solar array for FISH. This spring, we'll be working to raise $14,000 more, so we can give FISH solar power at no cost to the organization.
This solar array will save FISH an estimated $156,767 over the next 25 years. That's money that can be returned to the community in the form of hot meals, safe shelter and medical attention.
